Job Hazard!
Last night when I was working, about 4 minutes before we closed, a dad walked in with his 7 yr. old daughter because she had a fever (104.5). The doctor told me to do a strep test, pretty standard, easy order, do it all the time. Not so fast this time though... It was a full on WWF smack down match back in the exam room. The dad had to leave the room because it was just too "traumatic" for him... whatever dude, a little help would've been nice. It took 35 minutes and three people to do the job. The doctor nearly got her finger bit off and I got hit in the face twice. Makes me sure love my job! This girl was a real piece of work. It was the closest I've ever come to yelling at a complete stanger's child. Note to all you parents out there, make your kids open their mouths for a strep test if they need one, it will make a nurse's day (and is better than witnessing a smack down match!).

Stace-
That sounds like what Makenna does. Every time we go to the Dr. she asks if they are going to "put a stick in my throat?" Then will act pretty similar if they have to. Incredibly embarassing. We're grateful for nurses like you who put up with our silly kids.
Well Stace, you made my night. Picturing you and the strep test and the crazy girl is one of the funniest things ever. Nursing stories are the best. Let's not even get started on the good ol' U Nursing stories. Just wanted you to know I am laughing all by myself here. :)
Hilarious! You had me laughing out loud! Hope that your next shift goes a little bit smoother...
You should get hazard pay.
