My Little Cowgirl!

This is Court on the mounting ramp right before her ride! This is her pony, Butterscotch and her trainer, Tammy!

So Courtney started up therapeutic horse riding lessons at Spirit Horse yesterday. What is that you ask??? Well, it is an amazing program I found that helps children with special needs try to achieve their full potential. In Courtney's case it will help with her muscle strength, balance, coordination and self confidence etc. We are so excited about this opportunity for her. Its not very close to our house, but its worth the drive.
When the students arrive they have them go get their horse or pony and lead them over to the stable. Then they brush them and go pick up their blanket, saddle, bridle and helmet. This was a SLOW process for Court, but she did it! Then she walked up a ramp to get on the horse. She freaked out when we put her on her pony, screamed so loud! Her trainer said this was totally normal for a first timer. By the time we were half way through her trail walk she quieted down and would ride just holding my hand instead of my whole head! She was pretty clingy to me which is why I couldn't really get any good pictures of her, but overall it went well. They told me as she gets more comfortable we'll be able to walk longer. So that is that... my little cowgirl Courtney!

Going to put her helmet away after the ride.

Zack & Courtney sitting outside the stable, check out her cool pink cowgirl boots... she loves them!

They also let the siblings take a little ride so they don't have to just watch every week, Tammy said Zack was "a natural!"

Stace,
Courtney is adorable. How old are your kids now? I love seeing pictures. Post a picture of your new hair cut. We (Trisha, Sara, Jill T, Amy, and Ashley)got together on Thursday and we talked about how we need to post pictures of ourselves! I know, that is the last thing I want to do but I would love to see you along with the chillins.

Much Love!
