Celebrate the small victories!

Last week I dropped Courtney off at school one morning and her teacher pulled me aside and said she was concerned about her in class. She was not talking in class... at all. Ever since they had come back from Christmas break, Kiki has been very quiet and has not been participating in class activities very much. Of coarse, I felt sick to my stomach (I'm sure that's just a mom thing). Kiki is so energetic & chatty at home, especially when she plays with Zack. I immediately thought "worst case scenario" with the whole thing... she's not ready to be there, someone is teasing her, she's scared. So we spent all last week and weekend encouraging Courtney to participate in class and talk to her teachers when they ask her questions and things. And then today, the teacher sent home this AWESOME note!
With Courtney I've learned to celebrate the small victories in her life, no matter how seemingly insignificant. I remember when she finally started walking on her own. She was 20 months old and you'd of thought we'd won the lottery we were so thrilled! Dustin and I were both jumping around and giving her hugs when I found this note, because we were so proud of her for talking at school. We even went and bought her some "Color Wonder" markers. Way to go Kiki, keep up the great work!!!

I'm sure this shouldn't have made me emotional but it did. You're an awesome mom, she's lucky to have you.
