For my Mom...
Being Mother's Day, I'd like to take a little moment to tell everyone who reads my blog just how wonderful my mother is. Of coarse everyone has amazing mothers, that's just the nature of motherhood, but my mom, yes, my mom is an elect lady!
I wouldn't put my mom in the super-duper lovey-dovey cuddly category, that's just not her thing. And while I'd never pass up an opportunity for a hug from my mom, her way of showing me she loves me is by what she does every day of her life. She is more caring, giving and self-less than I could ever hope to be. Most of her life has been spent in the service of others, literally. Of all the things she is; a wife, a grandma, a sister, a daughter, a nurse, a friend, a leader; my favorite of all she could ever be is my Mom! With all the trials that I've been through, my dear mother has been there every step of the way. I have called her at 2 am on the way to ER with my child, I have called her in tears because my newborn may not make it, I have called her when my son made his first goal in soccer, I have called through triumps and challenges and she always makes me smile and it calms me down. While I hate living so far from her, I know that she would and has dropped everything to be here with me.
My mother is an truly an elect lady and on this Mother's Day while she is half way around the world doing what she does best, I just want her to know I couldn't love her anymore than I already do. Mom, you're the best!

These pictures are from a previous Operation Smile mission she went on to China. Right now she is in Ethiopia helping the children there find something wonderful to smile about! I think I have talked her into going on another OpSmile mission with me sometime later this year or next year!
