If you want to get the job done right...

... you have to go to the best doctor you can find! So we headed back up to Salt Lake again to Primary Children's Hospital for the BIG surgery for William.  I had been both dreading and looking forward to getting this done. I was nervous for the recovery and having my baby in a body cast for 3 months, but really wanted to get on with it and fix his hip!

Will and I flew up to Salt Lake a couple days before the surgery for a physical therapy appointment to help out with his neck. Crossed that off our list of things to do, next up was the surgery.

But before that, we went to the pumpkin patch with my sister Ashli and her family. I snapped this cute picture of Will that I just LOVE!

Dustin drove up late the night before surgery and was there for it too. We took this picture the morning of his surgery before we left for the hospital.

Here he is in pre-op.

The surgery took 2.5 hours and it wasn't easy waiting there for him. But the nurse called and gave us updates and we were very relieve to know that Dr. Stotts had successfully put his hip back into its rightful home!
Here Will is right afterwards. He had a really rough recovery that first day in the hospital. He would softly cry every time we had to touch or move him. He also kept having these muscle spams that would make his whole body twitch and he would start to cry again every time that happened too. It was very hard to watch him be in so much pain. We were able to get the pain under control over night and on a medication regimen that worked for him. We went home the following afternoon and started his long road to recovery.

While we were there, Dustin & TJ took a walk to the Buckeye tree up the street from his parents. He picked up a bunch of them to bring home for the kids to open.
Being in Salt Lake and having so much help, I was able to leave Will for a couple hours to see both of my nephews play football which was fun because I'd never been to one of their games before.
I love Utah in the fall! Go Eagles!

I ate at "the Chick" probably more than I should've, but YUM, I couldn't resist!

After Dustin left to go back home, Will and I had to stay around for a few days more for a follow up CT scan to make sure his hip stayed where it was supposed to. Here he is in the CT machine. He was a good boy for the procedure and, good news, everything was as it should be.

I was SOOOO nervous to fly home with my giant cast baby. Luckily he was such a good boy and slept the whole way back to Vegas (I'd venture to guess the Valium had something to do with that!)

And I came home to this cute sign! Made my whole heart smile! My awesome mother in law came down once again to help out my little family through yet another trial in our life. She cooked, cleaned, shuttled, washed, and lovingly cared for the kids while I was gone... and they loved it.

It is sure good to be home!
