Bad News

I received a phone call from my dad the other day and he tells me my brother has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. I pretty much lost it and was crying hysterically. My brother is one of the greatest, kindest most honorable guys I know, truly he is. I admire him so much, always have. So this new was very disheartening to me because there was just way too much unknown.
Apparently, he had experienced a mini stroke (TIA) and that is what sort of started this whole thing. After an MRI revealed some abnormalities, we were all informed of the results. After I finished crying and crying, I got on the phone and called all of our family and dear friends. We were going to have a family fast for him. It was absolutely amazing how easily things fell into place. My awesome brother in law, JJ, flew me up to SLC the very next day to be with everyone. Dustin was so supportive and didn't hesitate when I asked if he would mind if I left. So I came up to SLC and it was absolutely where I needed to be. I just needed to be there, around everyone. I sat most of the next day in waiting rooms and trying to help him get some tests run to get more answers. It was so nice to see the amazing support my family was given through all the people we grew up with. My parents were flooded with phone calls and food, visits and concerns from everyone. It was a very neat experience, one that I won't soon forget. I know everything is going to be okay with Bret. He is not one who is easily shaken. He is one of God's chosen men here on Earth!

Here he is after they drew 22 vials of blood!
The weekend was also filled with plenty of laughter! These 2 nerd bombs gave us all a good laugh when they tried on the undies that Kenna picked out at the store because she forgot to bring any. They were about 10 sized too big and made for a great costume... er.. yeah!

Nice picture my Dad snapped of us spending some quality time together, or something like that!

We are just waiting for all these test results and for a few more tests to be performed before the doctors can really tell him what is going on. So we will wait, for now, before we know exactly what it is that is going on.

***update*** 2/19/2014 after his cerebral angiogram was done, he found out that the TIA was caused from a tear in his carotid artery that was throwing clots up into his brain causing those symtoms. A baby aspirin a day is all that it will take to fix this. And also, after meeting with a neuro-opthamologist, they don't think the tumor is cancerous and are going to remove it in April. I know our prayers were answered here. It is very apparent that the Lord knows each one of us and is mindful of what is going on at all times.
