Big brother training class...

Today Zack went to a class put together by the child-life specialists at the hospital so he could go in and see Mary Cate. They went through what he should expect to see when he goes in there; all the different lines, tape, tubes etc. I think he was a little anxious, but he was very excited too. After getting all scrubbed up and clean to his elbows, they put a mask and gown on him and off we went back to see her. He LOVED it! He sang her "Twinkle, Twinkle" and talked to her a little bit. He also touched her hand and was amazed how small it was. Now he just can't wait to go back and see her again.



As for MC, she is status quo for the day, no new changes. She is still having some pretty serious withdrawal symptoms and is very easily aggitated so when I went to see her today I didn't really touch her skin too much. I didn't want to upset her. The nurse was giving her a lot of morphine and versed today to keep her comfortable and they also had to switch her bed location in the NICU because she was in a pretty high traffic, busy area and all the noise seemed to only upset her more. So she is now in a quiet little corner and spends most of her time off in dreamland!
I love her more every time I see her and just long for the day when I can bring her home with us. However, I just don't see it happening any time in the near future. She still has a lot that needs to happen before she is well enough to leave, but we know she will get there eventually.
This is a picture of her from today. She still is on CPAP as you can see. Her night nurse figured out she likes being swaddled in blankets better than warmed in her isolet with nothing over her. So that is why she is all covered up today and probably will be from here on out.
