Making progress
Mary without her OG tube. Now if we can just get rid of the oxygen!
Yesterday Mary Cate decided to get things going and make some improvements! A speech therapist came by for one of her feedings and told them that they needed to pull out her OG feeding tube because it was making it so uncomfortable and hard for her to get a good latch on her bottle. They took it out and she has taken taken every bottle since with little problem. She looks so cute without any tape strapped across her face. I just love to look at her cute little lips now! What a relief... one problem down, one more to go.
MC is still on the diuretic to help with her oxygen saturation level. But yesterday they turned it back down to 0.5 L and the O2 down to 21-24%. They are going to try to take it off completely today and see how she does. If she does okay then comes the best news of all... they will monitor her for four more days and then she gets to come HOME!!! That puts us at about Tuesday of next week if all goes well today! YIPPEEE!!! She was 4 weeks old yesterday. There is a light at the end of this seemingly endless tunnel!
As for Zack & Courtney, they are troopers. Since Dustin works at the hospital where MC is, he'll go up to the NICU after his case is over and spend time with her. Then I'll drive down and we'll switch cars and kids. This picture is of the kids outside the hospital entrance. They are both very excited for MC to come home. Zack is loving kindergarten and tells me something new and exciting everyday when I pick him up. He loves to pull his art project or 'homework' out of his backpack and show me right away. Its so great to see him enjoying school. Courtney has been a bit under the weather this past week. A little fever with an ear and sinus infection, but nothing Amoxicillin can't handle! She is talking so much better and loves to sing 'Happy Birthday to you' all day long. Her speech therapy that she is in now only goes until she turns three next month, and then we are having her tested for a early start preschool program. We'll see what that turns up next month. She still loves to follow Zack around everywhere and is the sweetest thing in the world! We just love our Kiki girl!
