And back home again!
Mary right after her surgery in the PACU.
This was her in her crib in our room. At least we had a private room, unlike the NICU!
Mary's surgery went great. He was able to fix both her inguinal and umbilical hernia. So now that's one less thing for me to have to worry about with her. She did however have a VERY rough recovery. She had a hard time coming out of anesthesia in the PACU. Then throughout the rest of the day on Monday she would cry anytime I touched her or she had to be moved. It was awful to see her in pain and made me so sad. That night was the worst. She would wake up crying and then stop and then start back up again. They were only giving her Tylenol for pain. Her doctor didn't want to give her narcotics because of the respiratory risk. Premies seem to have more problems with apnea (stopping breathing) than normal full term babies do after surgery. I hardly slept because I would just watch her in her crib. We spent most the day yesterday at the hospital as well. Her doc just wanted her to be observed for a little longer to make sure her pain level got better and for her to start eating. She only ate two times total on Monday, and was just too tired to eat much yesterday. After Dust & I did a little begging, they let us go last night and we are home again. What a relief. I'm happy to report the Mary Cate is doing much much better this morning. She is eating well and doesn't seem to be in much pain, except for when we change her diaper and move her legs around. We're just glad to be back home and hope we never have to take her back to the hospital again.
Of coarse the kids had a great time playing with Gramma Goodrich who so kindly came down once again to help us out. We sure love her, thanks Gramma!

Stace that breaks my heart to see her crying like that. Sweet little thing has been through a lot in her short time here. Hopefully that will be the last you visit that hospital...
We love you guys!
I hope you never have to go back to the hospital ever again either. I sort of understand about how that goes. I also relate to the awful feeling of having to see your baby in so much pain. I am so glad it is over for you guys and MC. You've been through so much lately. You deserve a LONG rest. Sending a big hug!!

stacey, it breaks my heart that she was in so much pain!! I can't imagine how hard that was for you! I am so glad she is home and on the recovering side! I hope she is doing well! She is an absolute doll! i might need you to hold my hand through our upcoming surgery! I'm so scared to take care of a baby with an incision!
Hi Stacy! I found your blog and was so happy to see what's going on in your life and with your adorable family. I'm so sorry you had to go through surgery and so much hospital time. I've been there with Kaitlyn and it is NO fun but so worth it once the problem is resolved. Your kids are adorable and I'm glad you guys are so happy. Mary (Bentley)
