Day 21
Today MC is three weeks old. She has sure come a long way since she was born. The past few days have been a bit discouraging for me because she didn't seem to be making any progress, but today was a little better. Mary is still on oxygen because she just can't quite keep her sats up by herself. But the good news is her platelet count has been creeping up slowly over the past few days on its own, no new transfusions! Hopefully it will continue to climb up into the normal range soon. They discontinued her TPN and lipids because she has been doing much better with her feeds. She is now up to about 12mL an hour of milk continuously through her feeding tube. They will probably start bolus feedings tomorrow or the next day to see how she tolerates it and then if all goes well, they will try bottle feeding her by the weekend. Her weight is up to 5 lbs. 12 oz. and she continues to gain a little bit everyday! When she was born she weighed 6 lbs. 7 oz., but it was NOT a healthly weight at all. After losing all of the fluid on her, MC got down to 5 lbs. 4 oz. at her lowest, which is what they were guessing her 'dry' weight probably was to begin with. Dr. Miller (one of her neo-natologists) seems hopeful that she is not too far away from being discharged to come home, maybe by the end of next week or weekend. My C-section was originally scheduled for September 8th, so that's when I'm shooting for, we'll see though... keep your fingers crossed and I'll keep saying my prayers!

Stacie...
After I got your email I had to come check out your blog. I knew you were pregnant, but I had no idea that MC was already here. I am so proud of you for your positive attitude about this whirlwind you have been through. I look up to you so much, and hope that when I am faced with trials and heartache that I can have the faith and positive attitude that you have. I'm sending you my blog link right now, and I'll be checking in on you often.

I'm so happy that MC is making some small improvements. I hope that she is able to come home soon. Stacie, you have the sweetest family. We miss you guys so much. I wish we lived closer so we could help. Maybe soon..... With football season starting, I can't help but miss you guys even more. You guys were our football party buddies!!! Love you long time....Angela
I am so glad she is doing much better. How exciting that she will soon be home. When my girls were in the nicu and the nurse called me on Thanksgiving to tell me I could come get them that was the best day ever. I was just thinking about if Courtney has seen Mary Cate. How is Courtney doing with all this? I am glad things are progressing and sson she will be home with you guys.

Oh My Beautiful Goodrich Family,
A day doesn't go by that I am not thinking of all of you and praying for little MC. The pictures of her with all of you are priceless. What a little beauty she is.
